Manny Gamburyan apologizes to UFC for injury

|

Season 5 Ultimate Fighter finalist Manny Gamburyan was expected to take on Chad Mendes on the UFC 157 main card. Unfortunately it was announced that Gamburyan had sustained numerous injuries and was forced to withdraw from the fight.

Melissa Segura of Sports Illustrated first tweeted news of the injury and Gamburyan later confirmed it. He said he broke his thumb during sparring and it was later revealed after a trip to the doctor that he also had a fractured elbow.

Feeling terrible about pulling out of the fight on such short notice, “The Anvil” took to Twitter to apologize to Dana White, the UFC and his opponent Mendes.

UFC 157 will take place February 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will be headlined by Gamburyan’s teammate and women’s UFC champion Ronda Rousey who will take on Liz Carmouche.
