Two of the lightweight divisions fiercest strikers will go toe-to-toe at UFC 160 on Memorial Day Weekend.
K.J. Noons will square off against Donald Cerrone this May. The match-up was announced on tonight’s episode of “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV.
Noons (11-6) is coming off a razor thin split decision loss to Ryan Couture at Strikeforce’s final card in January. Many fans and even UFC President Dana White gave the fight to Noons, but as he always says you can never leave the fight in the judges hands. This bout will be Noons’ first trip to the Octagon.
The former EliteXC lightweight champion went 3-4 under the Strikeforce banner.
Cerrone (19-5) will also look to get back in the win column, as he is coming off a devastating liver kick knockout at the hands feet of Anthony Pettis. That was the first time that “Cowboy” had been stopped by knockout or TKO in his professional MMA career.
This bout is bound to be exciting, as Noons always puts on a show and we know that the “Cowboy” brings it. In eight of Cerrone’s last ten UFC fights he has brought home fight bonuses.
There is no word as to where on the UFC 160 fight card the Noons vs. Cerrone fight will take place.
UFC 160 will go down on May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will be for the UFC heavyweight championship as Cain Velasquez will take on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Also announced for the UFC 160 card is former heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem.
