Rousey armbars Carmouche in historic victory

|

Right from start Rousey goes for the take down but ends up getting swept after a brief moment on top. With the successful sweep, Carmouche transitions to the back mount with Rousey standing up. Coming close to duplicating the Faber vs Menjivar finish, Carmouche was awfully close to pulling the upset. Rousey was able to get through the rear-naked choke attempt and gets in up/down before jumping into side control. Rousey controlled Carmouche from 3:30 on in a side headlock landing punches. In trying for another sweep, Carmouche vied to get out from the bottom but Rousey learned from the earlier attempt and got Carmouche into an armbar to win at 4:49 in the first round to maintain her Women’s Bantamweight Championship.
