Alexander Gustafsson injured, UFC on FUEL TV 9 bout with Gegard Mousasi in jeopardy

|

The UFC injury bug continues as Alexander Gustafsson may be forced to withdraw from his UFC on FUEL TV 9 main event bout with Gegard Mousasi.

Although the UFC has not officially announced the injury, MMASucka.com has confirmed with sources close to Gustafsson.

A cut above Gustafsson’s left eye occurred during wrestling practice is what may put the fight in jeopardy.

Gustafsson (15-1) bruised and battered the veteran Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC on FOX 5 this past December. The Swedish fighter is on a five fight winning streak since his first career loss to his current teammate Phil Davis back in 2010.

Mousasi (33-3-2) is 5-0-1 in his last six fights. Most recently “The Dreamcatcher” showed off his skills as he defeated Mike Kyle handedly at the final Strikeforce event.

No word as to whether the UFC will find a replacement for Gustafsson at UFC on FUEL TV 9 on April 6 in Stockholm, Sweden.
