Alexander Gustafsson says he is fighting Jon Jones

|

UFC President Dana White stated yesterday in a media event for UFC 160 in Las Vegas that the light heavyweight champ Jon Jones could be out six weeks or six months. However today a tweet came out from fellow light heavyweight fighter Alexander Gustafsson that led fans and media to think otherwise.

Almost immediately following “The Mauler’s” tweet, Jones responded with one of his own.

It has been a long time coming for Gustafsson to get a crack at Jones’ title, but what happened to “The Dragon” Lyoto Machida? Has the UFC changed their mind on number one contenders yet again.

Jonny Bones was in Russia yesterday and met up with former PRIDE and Strikeforce legend Fedor Emelianenko. He sent out a photo of him facing off with the Russian. Could this be a sign of where the potential fight could take place?

The organization has not officially announced the fight or even been spoken about other than Gustafsson’s tweet.

What are your thoughts on Gustafsson vs. Jones?

I don’t think Gustafsson is saying there is a confirmed fight with he and Jones. He’s referring to the fact that they are going to be seeing each other in Moscow, and is jokingly saying “it’s on.”

This ambiguity might be intentional as he tries to do a Chael Sonnen and get Dana White to leapfrog him past Machida.
