Former XFC lightweight champ Nick Newell signs with World Series of Fighting

|

A few weeks back, XFC President John Prisco released a newsletter stating that the organization had released its lightweight champion Nick Newell. It didn’t take long for another organization to snatch up the former champ, as Newell announced via his Twitter account that he been signed by World Series of Fighting.

The 27-year old has gone 9-0 in his professional career with eight of those being by stoppage, which is fairly impressive for a fighter who was born with a defective left arm.

In his last outing Newell defeated Eric Reynolds by rear naked choke in the first round to win the XFC lightweight title. The organization claimed that he refused to fight Scott Holtzman at their June 14 event, thus stripping him of the title and releasing him.

WSOF has not released information on when Newell will make his promotional debut or who he will be fighting.
