Herb Dean announced as UFC 162 main event referee

|

In a time when UFC President Dana White has been lambasting mixed martial arts referees, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has more than likely put a smile from ear-to-ear on his face.

On Friday MMA Fighting announced that the NSAC had appointed Herb Dean as the main event referee at UFC 162 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Herb Dean announced as UFC 162 main event referee

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will go toe-to-toe with number one contender Chris Weidman in the evenings main event. In addition to Dean, Adalaide Byrd, Marcos Rosales and Patricia Morse Jarman will serve as cageside judges for that fight.

White has made it crystal clear that he has his favorites when it comes to refereeing and Dean is on the top of his list.

UFC 162 goes down on July 6, 2013 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to the Silva vs. Weidman main event, former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will square off in his sophomore fight in the featherweight division.
