Due to ongoing legal issues, both “Semtex” and “Big Rig” have been given their releases and wished well in their future endeavors by Bellator Fighting Championships.
MMA Junkie broke the news earlier today.
Bellator releases Paul Daley and Maiquel Falcao
Paul “Semtex” Daley (33-12-2) was recently convicted of assaulting and obstructing a police officer in his native United Kingdom, a charge that he had initially told his employers was thrown out. Daley’s manager, Wad Alameddine, confirmed that his client had indeed been convicted of the aforementioned charges. A conviction for assaulting and obstructing a police officer would no doubt hinder, if not entirely prevent, Daley from entering the United States.
Maiquel Falcao (31-5) was involved in a brawl at a gas station in Brazil that saw one of his teammates beaten into unconsciousness after “Big Rig” allegedly slapped a woman. Falcao’s offense became the subject of a viral video and also resulted in Maiquel’s expulsion from the Renovacao Fight Team. With such a visible black mark against him, it would have been difficult for Bellator to justify keeping the middleweight on their roster.
