Seattle, WA – It’s MAIN EVENT TIME!!!
The feverish pace of the flyweights was immediately noticeable as Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga took to the center of the Octagon. “Mighty Mouse” used his footwork to get to the inside, but Moraga was able to fend off any damage. With just under two-minutes left in the round, Johnson got a takedown and worked his way into side control. The round ended with a scramble and Johnson locking in a guillotine choke just to hear the horn sound.
Johnson landed a power takedown thirty seconds in to the second round. He stood up in Moraga’s guard and literally just stepped over his legs to get side control. Moraga attempted an inverted triangle from the bottom, but Johnson just shoved it off. Johnson was all over Moraga like a wet blanket for almost the entire second round. Right when the two returned to their feet, Johnson snatched another double leg takedown and wound up in side control. Johnson slammed down punches from the top to finish off the round.

Moraga still had some bounce to his step, but the second he poured anything on, Johnson took the fight to the ground. Moraga turtled and Johnson got both hooks to take his back. The slippery fighter was able to slide his way back to his feet and forced the fight to the cage. Johnson attempted shoulder lock but lost position on the attempt and the fighters made their way back to the feet.
The pace didn’t settle down into the championship round. Moraga looked to throw some punches, but Johnson landed his seventh straight takedown. The two stood for about a minute, but Johnson didn’t like that so much so he took him down… again. With two minutes left the two clinched against the cage. Moraga landed a big shot that pushed Johnson back against the cage, but as he rushed in Johnson took him to the mat and rode out the round.
In the final frame, Johnson took the fight to the mat and was able to control the pace. His nose has bloodied up but he hadn’t stopped the pace. With just over a minute left, “Mighty Mouse” faked the shoulder lock and nabbed an armbar forcing Moraga to tap.

Demetrious Johnson:
“These past couple weeks have been great. I’m just ready to go home and spend time with my wife and baby.”
John Moraga:
“I’m disappointed in myself. He put me on the bottom and I never got up. I just lost focus on what I needed to do, so he got the submission. After the first takedown I got impatient which is exactly what I told myself not to do.”
