A welterweight match-up between Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine is in the works for a UFC event in December.
UFC President Dana White confirmed the match-up with FOXSports.com.
Matt Brown vs Tarec Saffiedine in the works for December event
Brown (18-11) has just cracked the top-10 in the welterweight division and he is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. Most recently Brown laid a beating on Mike Pyle at UFC Fight Night 26. It took Brown just 29-seconds to finish Pyle, the victory earned “The Immortal” “Knockout of the Night” honours.
Saffiedine (14-3) was the last ever Strikeforce welterweight champion and is undefeated in his last four fights. He has yet to make his UFC debut, as he was expected to take on Robbie Lawler at UFC on FOX 8 earlier this year but was forced to pull out with an injury.
White stated that the bout will depend on Saffiedine’s health, so the date and specific event are yet to be determined. The UFC has three events planned for December 2013 and it could take place at any of the following, UFC on FOX 9 (Dec. 14), UFC Fight Night Australia (Dec. 21) or UFC 168 (Dec. 28)
