ONE FC 11 Preview: Ann Osman confident of 1st round KO victory over Sherilyn Lim

|

Later this month at ONE FC 11: Total Domination, ONE Fighting Championship will stage just its second women’s match-up to date.

Local fighter Sherilyn Lim (0-0) is set to meet Ann Osman (0-0) in the preliminary portion of the fight card, which will be aired free-of-charge online on the YouTube platform.

All eyes have certainly been on Sherilyn Lim, who trains out of Fight G, a local MMA establishment that’s situated in Singapore. Dubbed as the country’s “MMA darling”, Lim has been training extensively on her all-round MMA game, with an eye to impress the local audience when she makes both her promotional and MMA debut on October 18th.

Lim is an amateur MMA champ in the local scene, perhaps holding an edge in terms of Mixed Martial Arts experience.

“Even though my opponent says she has a strong striking background, I don’t think that’s something I should be concerned about, ” Lim said. “The more time I spend about thinking what her strengths are, that’ll be a waste of my time. Whatever that’s out of my control, I don’t find the need to think about it at all. ”

Contrary to what people believe though, Ann Osman seems unfazed by all the talk surrounding her opponent. Suffice to say, the Malaysian will be entering enemy territory later this month, and she hopes that a quick finish will be able to silence the home crowd.

“This fight means a lot to me. I’ve put in all the hard work, and I’ve sacrificed a lot, ” Osman said. “So I expect to knock her out in the first round.”

Training out of Borneo Tribal Squad with the likes of fellow ONE FC fighter AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor, Osman is Malaysia’s first professional female MMA fighter. While her strength may lie in her striking credentials, it remains to be seen how the 27-year-old fares in the grappling aspect of Mixed Martial Arts.

Not much is known about both fighters except for the fact that a country’s pride will be at stake when the duo collide at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Lim-Osman is just one of three “Singapore vs. Malaysia” match-ups that will go down later this month. Stephen Langdown vs. Marc Marcellinus will kick-start the fight card, with Juan Wen Jie vs. Alex Lim to follow suit soon after.

Headlined by a Bantamweight title unification bout between Soo Chul Kim and Bibiano Fernandes, ONE FC 11: Total Domination goes down October 18th at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. While the event airs on Star Sports in Asia, global fans can catch all the action at a price of $9.99, here.
