Eight bouts set for October 26’s BRACE 23

|

BRACE has been in the Australian MMA landscape for four years now, and has since expanded in four states and seven cities, with further plans in progress.

Eight bouts set for October 26’s BRACE 23

It’s been a huge 2013 for BRACE, having held four events in the calendar year thus far. With the exception of October 26’s BRACE 23, the promotion has announced two more events before the turn of the year, with BRACE 24 in Canberra and BRACE 25 in Sydney. This takes their total number of events for 2013 to seven, which is needless to say, spectacular.

Invicta FC’s Bec Hyatt and former UFC vet Ben Alloway are notable products of BRACE, which has also paved way to countless other Mixed Martial Arts prospects.

BRACE most recently forged a partnership with Singapore-based ONE Fighting Championship, as part of the “ONE FC Network” – an initiative which constitutes of gyms, promotions, sponsors, etc. all working together to ensure the growth of Asian MMA within the region.

Later this month, BRACE 23 goes down at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre situated in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The event is set to be headlined by a Lightweight contest featuring Gokhan Turkyilmaz and Canadian, Kevin Manderson.

brace23_event-posterTurkyilmaz (9-9) splits his camps between Tiger Muay Thai and Integrated MMA, and has fought four times under the BRACE banner thus far. The Phuket, Thailand native is on a two fight win streak, and 3-3 overall in his previous six outings. He was in action just a few days ago at DARE: Rebels of MMA, where he succumbed to a submission setback at the hands of Phuket Top Team’s Murad Machaev.

Manderson (16-13-1), in the meantime, made his BRACE debut in December last year, submitting his opponent in the third frame. Although the Canadian has experienced mixed success in his MMA career thus far, he has fought in the big leagues like Maximum Fighting Championship and King of the Cage.

In an other wise Australian-talent filled card, El Salvador’s Edwin Arana (5-6) vs. England’s Zack Hook (2-4) is the only match-up on the line-up without an Aussie involved. Both fighters, though, are based in the country. While Hume looks for his second victory on the trot following five consecutive losses, “El Bomba” Edwin Arana looking to snap his current three-fight losing skid.

The fight card also includes Luke Hume (7-8) vs.  Jamie Mullarkey (0-1) & Kris Spence (2-1) vs. Jan Johannas van Aswegenat (?) at Featherweight, and Lightweights Taela Kelly (0-1) vs. Mick Bosworth (1-1) among others.

BRACE 23 is set to stream LIVE on an online pay-per-view at AUD $14.99. For timings, visit http://bracemma.com/live-streaming/.
