Dana White appeared on the FoxSports.com podcast “The Fighter and the Kid” today, and dropped the news that many within the MMA community have been expecting since the spring: The addition of a 115 lbs. women’s division to the Ultimate Fighting Championships.
Dana White confirms addition of Women’s Strawweight Division to the UFC
While being interviewed by UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub and his co-host Bryan Callen, White couldn’t help but give his employee an exclusive tidbit.
I’ll give you guys something nobody knows yet. We’re actually working on bringing in another division for the women, which I said would never happen for a long time…
When asked if would be flyweight or featherweight by Schaub, Dana responded in his typical matter-of-fact manner.
Neither… 115 lbs.
So, with the coming addition of a women’s strawweight division, it’s anybody’s guess who will be signed. With standouts like Carla Esparza, Felice Herrig, and Jessica Aguilar already locked up with other promotions, who could the UFC bring in? Who would you like to see them bring in?
