It was just over a month ago that Rousimar Palhares was released from the UFC after holding on to a submission for too long against Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29. It is now confirmed that “Toquinho” has signed a deal with Las Vegas based fight promotion World Series of Fighting.
Former UFC welterweight Rousimar Palhares signs with WSOF
MMAJunkie.com was first to announce the signing and MMASucka.com since confirmed it.
Palhares (15-5) was riding a two-fight losing streak coming in to his UFC Fight Night 29 bout with Pierce, however he was let go due to “unsportsmanlike conduct” after a victory. UFC President Dana White was interviewed by ESPN‘s Jeremy Schaap and announced that the UFC was releasing Palhares effective immediately due to not letting go of the submission.
The former UFC fighter joins a cast of veteran welterweights under the WSOF banner including Jon Fitch, Steve Carl, Josh Burkman, Gerald Harris, Ryan Ford and more.
No word on when Palhares will make his WSOF debut, but keep it locked to MMASucka.com for news on the situation as it arises.
