Nick Catone vs Tom Watson set for UFC 169

UFC Officials confirmed the bout yesterday.

Nick “The Jersey Devil” Catone (9-4) has had a run of bad luck his last couple of fights. The well-rounded New Jersey native put in game efforts against Chris Camozzi and T.J. Waldberger, but found himself finished by doctor’s stoppage and technical submission, respectively. The 32 year-old will now be fighting for his job come February. Will he be able to retain employment with a win over the heavy-handed “Kong”?

Tom “Kong” Watson (16-6) has not had the success he was expecting since entering the UFC. Going 1-2 with the promotion over the fights, the powerful striker has a (T)KO win over Stanislov Nedkov sandwiched between decision losses to Brad Tavares and Thales Leites. Now, the big-talking Brit could very well be battling for his continued place in the UFC. Will he keep it at the expense of “The Jersey Devil?”

UFC 169 goes down live from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Feb. 1st, 2014. The main event is currently set as a bantamweight title unification bout pitting interim champ Renan Barao against champion-in-recess Dominick Cruz. Stay tuned to MMASucka for more on this and other upcoming events.
