Both heavyweights in this bout are extremely talented and have already earned their stripes. Travis Browne is 15-1-1 and has been on a solid run in the UFC. His heart and knockout ability are proving to be his greatest asset in the octagon.

Travis Browne defeats Josh Barnett in decisive first round victory

Josh Barnett is coming off a very impressive victory over Frank Mir. He looked good in the fight and has been given a great opportunity to put a stop to Browne’s rise in the heavyweight division. He failed to capitalize.

From the beginning, Barnett looked out of his element and Browne was able to pick his spots with ease. After throwing a horrendous knee that hit nothing but air, Barnett proceeded to follow Browne into the cage, only to get hit with a brutal knee to the head.

After dropping to his knees and attempting a takedown, Browne finished the fight with deadly elbows to the head of Barnett. He won by KO (elbows) at just 1:00 of the first round.

Browne seems ready to take on MMA’s best heavyweights, and hopefully the UFC will give him a much better fight next time around.
