With a Women’s Bantamweight Title clash already headlining UFC 170, a bout that looks primed to be for #1 contendership has now been added to the card with word that Alexis Davis and Jessica Eye will be doing battle.
UFC officials confirmed the bout earlier tonight.
Alexis Davis and Jessica Eye matched up for UFC 170
Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis (15-5) is in all likelihood the most unsung and most well-rounded member of Team Cesar Gracie. The Port Colbourne, ON native is currently on a 4 fight winning streak, and was last seen taking a hard-fought decision over former title contender Liz Carmouche. The submission specialist will be seeking to cement a title shot, one that was denied by the booking of Sara McMann into the UFC 170 main event. Will “Ally-Gator” be able to get what she feels she deserves at the expense of the surging Eye?
Jessica “Evil” Eye (11-1) is also on a winning streak, this one seeing her get her hand raised in 8 consecutive bouts. With her last bout being a memorable stand-up war with over former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champ Sarah Kaufman, the Team Strong Style representative will be looking to bring her fast hands to bear on the well-rounded Davis. Eye has a lot of forward momentum going into this bout, and is hoping that a win will put her over the top en route to getting a title shot. Will she be able to to get over the contendership hump with a win over Davis?
UFC 170 goes down Feb. 22nd from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. The main event is a Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout pitting two former Olympians against each other, as 2008 freestyle wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann challenges 2008 judo bronze medalist Ronda Rousey.
