Louis Smolka (6-0), the reigning Pacific X-Treme Combat 125-lbs champ, could not have asked for a better Christmas. Or a better present, for that matter.
The Hawaiian, last Wednesday, became the latest fighter from the Guam-based promotion to link up with the UFC.
Smolka announced the news of his signing on Social Media.
A member of 808 Top Team which also houses the likes of fellow UFC fighter Russell Doane and Strikeforce vet Harris Sarmiento among many others, Smolka holds a perfect 6-0 record with all his bouts ending via TKO or Submission. The Hawaiian joined PXC in November last year, racking up four appearances under the promotion’s banner whilst securing lucrative bouts with the likes of Alvin Cacdac, Jessie Rafols and Ale Cali.
He garnered the organization’s Flyweight strap from the aforementioned Cali at PXC 41, cementing a reputation as one of the fastest growing talents in the Asian region. Now, Smolka will look to continue his success in the octagon, and ply his trade with some of the world’s best fighters.
UFC officials have formally announce the signing, and an octagon debut for the fighter has been targeted for January 15th, at UFC Fight Night 35. “The Turkish Delight”, Alptekin Ozkilic (9-1), on the heels of a Split Decision victory over Darren Uyenoyama, will be Smolka’s opponent.
