The UFC is already preparing the Memorial Day fireworks with word that lightweights Jamie Varner and James Krause will be facing off. The match is set for UFC 173, which will emanate from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada on May 24th.
Jamie Varner vs James Krause set for UFC 173
News of the fight first broke on Twitter via Front Row Brian, and was later confirmed by anonymous sources within the UFC by MMA Junkie.
Jamie “C-4” Varner (21-9-1, 2 N/C) has not had the best run in his second go-round with the UFC, currently sitting at 2-3. After suffering back to back losses to Gleison Tibau and Abel Trujillo, the longtime veteran and MMA Lab member will be fighting to keep his job. Will the game, gritty Varner be able to keep his job with a win over the younger Krause?
“The” James Krause (20-5) is batting .500 in the UFC’s lightweight division, having guillotined his way to victory over Sam Stout in his debut, then losing to Bobby Green via TKO. The young gun submission specialist from the K2L Grindhouse gym will be looking to prove he belongs on the track to contendership in this fight. Will he restart his rise towards the top 10 with a win over “C-4”?
