TUF: China Finale – Kim vs Hathaway Main Event Video Preview

Dong Hyun Kim (18-2-1, 1 NC) and John Hathaway (17-1) were originally scheduled to fight one another at UFC 120, before an injury forced the former to withdraw from the contest. Mike Pyle served as a replacement for Kim and managed to defeat his English counterpart that night in England, handing Hathaway his first career setback.

And now, four years later, two of the brightest 170-lbs prospects are set for a collision course once again, in a headlining tilt set for the TUF: China Finale on Saturday night in Macau, China.

Apart from that lone blemish, Hathaway has looked nothing but spectacular in all his pro MMA outings. After notching notable victories over Diego Sanchez and Rick Story, the 26-year-old London Shootfighters native established himself as a firm favorite fighting out of the United Kingdom, carrying the British flag high whenever he fought. The Brit has amassed a whopping 7-1 record under the UFC banner thus far. He is on a three-fight winning skid, with nine of his seventeen career victories ending via stoppage.

But during Hathaway’s year long spell on the sidelines due to injury, Kim looked impressive in his 2-0 run in 2013, picking up a lopsided decision victory over Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC on FUEL TV 8, before knocking Erick Silva out senseless at UFC Fight Night 29. The South Korean starlet has made a strong case for getting a crack at the UFC Welterweight belt, but he has to get past a fellow seasoned veteran in John Hathaway first. His only two defeats in the octagon have come against top contenders Carlos Condit and Demian Maia.
