UFC welterweight Jake Ellenberger has signed an eight-fight contract extension with the organization.

Ellenberger announced the news on his official Facebook page on Thursday.

“It was a big day in Las Vegas at Headquarters, I just signed 8 more fights for the UFC. Thank u everyone supporting my #Road2Gold – Best fans in the world – thx @danawhiteufc @ufc”

Ellenberger (29-7) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC on FOX 8 in July of last year. “The Juggernaut” was expected to take on Tarec Saffiedine in the main event at UFC Fight Night 34, however was forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury.

The Reign Training Center fighter began his UFC career in 2009 and lost his first fight by split decision to Carlos Condit. He went on to win his next six fights and is currently 8-3 inside the Octagon.

Ellenberger is expected to take on Saffiedine at UFC 172 on April 26 from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
