Women’s MMA fans can now relax in regards to a perceived drought in the UFC’s female bantamweight division. The Netherlands’ own Germaine de Randemie has now been set to take on Russia’s Milana Dudieva at UFC 174.
The UFC confirmed the news earlier today via their Canadian office’s Twitter.
Known as “The Iron Lady,” de Randamie (4-3), was a kickboxer before making the transition to MMA, amassing a record of 37-0 with 14 KOs. MMA has been a little tougher, but the American Kickboxing Academy-based striker has victories over notables like Julie Kedzie and Hiroko Yamanaka. Last seen in a losing effort against Amanda Nunes, the hard-hitting Dutchwoman will be looking to redeem herself. Will she be able to get her second UFC win with a victory over the Russian debutant?
Russian grappling ace Dudieva (10-3) is one of the brightest prospects in Eastern Europe’s burgeoning MMA scene. With a list of victims that includes a former UFC fighter Sheila Gaff, the Peresvet Fight Team member is a proven finisher. With 6 submissions and 3 stoppages to her name, the stand-out ground fighter will be looking to make a big splash in the Octagon. Will she be able to do that at the expense of the powerful de Randamie?
UFC 174 goes down on June 14th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. The main event is a Flyweight Title bout pitting long-time champ Demetrious Johnson against dangerous Dagestani samboist Ali Bagautinov. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other events.
