Ronda Rousey defended her Women’s Bantamweight strap successfully for the fourth straight time and did so in devastating fashion, at the expense of Alexis Davis.
The championship match-up took place on the main card of UFC 175 on pay-pay-view, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
It took just 16 seconds for the champ to draw a halt to the contest. Both fighters trotted to the middle of the octagon at the start of the bell, and within moments, started exchanging shots. But it was Rousey who landed the first solid blow, a straight right, and followed it up with a knee to the body before securing her trademark judo hip toss. It was then all rudimentary for the Olympian as repeated shots to Davis’ head was all it took for referee Yves Lavigne to make a prompt intervention.
Davis was out cold, as both Lavigne and the cageside doctor spent the next five minutes or so explaining to the Canadian what had went down.
With the win, Rousey remained unbeaten and is now a perfect 10-0 in her career. Davis, meanwhile, slumped to her first UFC setback.
Final Result: Ronda Rousey def. Alexis Davis via KO (Punches) at 0:16 of Round 1
