Kennedy (18-4) is on a four-fight winning streak, with three of those victories inside the UFC Octagon. Most recently the 34-year-old won a unanimous decision against Michael Bisping at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale. Prior to that win he knocked out Rafael Natal UFC Fight for the Troops 3 last November.

Romero (8-1) has been a roll since making his way to the UFC and has run through his last four opponents. All but one of his UFC fights has been finished by either knockout or TKO, with his most recent being a decision victory against Brad Tavares at UFC on FOX 11.

The Kennedy vs. Romero bout will likely serve on the evenings PPV portion of the UFC 178 fight card.

UFC 178 goes down on September 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada with the main event between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson for the UFC light heavyweight championship.
