UFC officials have announced today that UFC middleweight Mike King has tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid in a UFC Fight Night 46 drug test.  King was submitted by Cathal Pendred in the second round at UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, Ireland last July.

‘The Ultimate Fighter 19’ cast member must give up his Fight of the Night post-fight bonus of $50,000.

In a result of the failed test, he must also serve a 9-month suspension, retroactive to the event, and is also required to pass a drug test before he can fight again.

Here is the UFC’s official statement:

UFC middleweight Mike King tested positive for nandrolone following his bout against Cathal Pendred at UFC Fight Night Dublin: McGregor vs. Brandao on July 19, 2014. He was informed that his positive test violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. He agreed to serve a 9-month suspension retroactive to the event and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again. He will forfeit his $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.

King dominated the fight in the first round but ended up being choked out in the second round.  According to UFC President Dana White, Pendred made one of the biggest comebacks he had ever seen.
