According to Brazilian website Globo, Barao was cutting weight in the bathtub of his hotel room in Sacramento and felt dizzy when he stood up. He briefly lost consciousness, fell and hit his head.

Former Bellator champ Joe Soto will step in for Barao in his UFC debut.

Soto (15-2) was expected to face Anthony Birchak on the UFC 177 preliminary card, but will now get main event status. He is currently riding a six-fight winning streak, with his last four victories coming under the Tachi Palace Fights banner, where he held the Bantamweight Title. Most recently he defeated Terrion Ware at TPF 20 earlier this month.

UFC 177 goes down on Saturday August 30 from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
