UFC 181 gets a fun lightweight title between TUF winner Tony Ferguson and Abel ‘Killa’ Trujillo.
UFC officials confirmed the fight on Wednesday.
Ferguson (16-3) is 6-1 since winning season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter, and is on an absolute roll since losing to Michael Johnson in May of 2012. Injuries have only allowed him to fight three times since the loss, but he’s looked great in these three outing. On October of 2013 he submitted Mike Rio with a D’arce, securing himself a submission of the night bonus. He then knocked out Katsunori Kikuno at UFC 173, and most recently defeated Danny Castillo at UFC 177 on August 30.
Trujillo (12-5-1) has not fought since the beginning of February, but no fan has forgotten about it quite yet. Trujillo and Varner went to war earning a fight of the night bonus, but Trujillo would end the fight in the second round with a vicious knockout, securing him a knockout of the night bonus as well. Before this he beat Roger Bowling via TKO. Since the Varner fight, Trujillo has had five fights cancelled, only one of which being at his own fault. He was set to fight Ross Pearson at UFC FN 47 before pulling out due to injury.
This fight will likely take place on the main card portion of the card.
UFC 181 is expected to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 6 and will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.
