Best Bets

Demetrious Johnson ($6100) – The UFC Flyweight Champion is bar-none one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and this bout against Chris Cariaso, while he is on a three-fight winning streak, is completely lopsided. Johnson has faced some of the best in the world and had his way with them, so why would this UFC 178 bout be any different. I expect Johnson to get a finish before the five rounds are complete.

Cat Zingano ($5300) – The former number one contender is making her first appearance inside the Octagon in a year-and-a-half, so she will be out to prove something and be able to get back inside the cage against champion Ronda Rousey. Nunes is 2-0 inside the Octagon, but she has yet to face someone as skilled as Zingano, which makes me feel this fight could finish as quickly as the first round.

Underdog Picks

John Howard ($4600) – Even though Howard is coming off a loss to the undefeated Ryan LaFlare, there is a chance the underdog could get it done against Brian Ebersole. Both veterans of the sport, this fight will be an all out brawl. Howard is known for his knockouts and Ebersole is a guy who has never, in his 68 career fights, been knocked out. This one will likely make it to the judges cards and the person who lays enough leather to face will have their hand raised.

Yoel Romero ($4700) – Romero is undefeated inside the Octagon at 4-0, with each victory being a finish other than his most recent against Brad Tavares. Kennedy is no joke who is also riding a four-fight winning streak with victories over Roger Gracie, Rafael Natal and Michael Bisping inside the UFC. With Romero’s pace, this Kennedy bout is perfect for him. The thing that comes into play is — which fighter will be the first to get the other to the mat.

James Krause ($4100) – Krause would be riding a 10-fight winning streak dating back to 2011 if it weren’t for a 2013 loss to Bobby Green that many considered a low blow. He beat Sam Stout with a beautiful guillotine choke in his Octagon debut and most recently defeated Jamie Varner at UFC 173 when Varner was forced to stop fighting due to an ankle injury. Krause’s opponent, Masvidal, is a former Strikeforce title challenger, who is 4-1 inside the Octagon and will definitely be his toughest test to date. If Krause is able to dictate the pace and utilize his unorthodox style it is his fight to lose against Masvidal.
