There is at least one fight on the PFC Rock “N” Rumble card, November 21 at The National Western Complex, that is pretty much guaranteed to not go past the first round. When Brandon Griffin (3-0) and Tyler East (13-4) square off for the heavyweight title, fans had better be sure to be in their seats.

Colorado fan favorite Griffin, out of Z’s Training Center in Ft. Collins, has racked up two of his three professional wins, all of which came in the first round, in front of PFC crowds and is looking to finish 2014 just like he started it.

“Fans should expect a fast paced, crazy stand-up battle between two athletes giving it their all to win and being entertained from the moment we tap gloves,” Griffin said.

Tyler East comes to PFC by way of New Mexico’s FIT NHB and has had fourteen of his fights end before the first round has. News that Griffin wants to keep the fight standing is welcome to East.

“I know he’s going to try and take me down and he just isn’t going to be able to do that. He’s going to fight the fight where I want it to be and I’m going to just keep coming forward,” East said.

Fans can understand why East wants to keep it standing. A quick search of his record reveals one fairly common phrase in his fight history; ‘TKO: referee stoppage from strikes’. But Griffin isn’t afraid of big time strikers. While his fights have been scattered across the years, this is the same man who handed the only defeat UFC fighter Joshua Copeland has ever known, back when they were both amateurs in 2010.

But the past is just that and Griffin knows this title fight is going to be one of his toughest yet.

“From what I know, he is a beast. Young and experienced at the same time. I respect him for the fights he has been in and look forward to our fight more because I know he will give it his all to win and make it a fun fight,” Griffin said.

That is the exact same sentiment East had when he first got the offer for the fight.

“He seemed tough, undefeated with no one going out of the first round. I like that and so I took the fight and I’ve been training ever since. I’m excited and I’m ready to get up there and do what I do,” East said.

One big disparity between the two fighters is cage-time. Griffin has less than half the amount of fights, with seven fights across his entire career. East, with more than twenty fights under his belt, thinks this may well be the difference maker.

“I definitely think my experience is a huge factor in this fight. He’s big. He’s strong. But he’s still a little green and once he gets in trouble that is going to be a big factor in me beating him,” East said.

Griffin admits to some nerves going into any fight, but knows he’s there for a purpose.

“There’s always nerves mixed in with raw excitement whenever I fight and with this being a big show all I’m nervous about is living up to the expectations of my friends and family that are there as well as fans of the sport. I have to put on a show,” Griffin said.

As for those ‘friends and family’, East is very specific in his desires to spoil their evenings.

“I like to travel. I feel my better fights have come when I have been out of town. I love to go to people’s own back yards and beat them up in front of their people. I get a great deal of satisfaction out of that. I cannot wait to go into Brandon’s backyard and beat him up,” East said.

Bold statements give way to an even bolder prediction for fight-night from East.

“You’re going to see me come out and get a big first round knockout,” he promised.

As for Griffin, he’s just ready for the fans to have a good time.

“It’s going to be entertainment at its finest. People yelling, cheering, and questioning who was fight of the night, because they can’t pick just one,” he said.

Early odds though think this battle may well be on the radar for fight of the night. Who walks away with the PFC heavyweight title? Will Griffin continue his winning ways or will East play hometown-heartbreaker? The only way to find out is to be there to see this as well as the rest of the stacked R“N”R card and a P.O.D. concert at the National Western Complex on November 21.
