The UFC 181 main card kicked off with a lightweight battle between Tony Ferguson and Abel Trujillo.

UFC 181 Result: Tony Ferguson taps out Abel Trujillo in second round

Trujillo opened up the fight pushing forward on a couple of occasions. On the second or third attempt, Trujillo caught Ferguson and dropped him. Ferguson was able to get his legs back under him and start pushing forward himself. Ferguson threw a heavy leg kick, but Trujillo was able to land the takedown. Trujillo threw a long right hand that caught Ferguson again, but “El Cucuy” ate it. Trujillo took Ferguson down and Ferguson instantly worked for a submission off his back. Ferguson was able to land a couple clean punches that stumbled Trujillo and forced him to back up. Ferguson went for a flying knee to close out the round.

Ferguson landed a nice kick to the body, which forced Trujillo to go for the takedown, but Ferguson was able to stuff it. On the next takedown attempt, Ferguson sprawled and instantly took the back of his turtle opponent. After Ferguson rolled for a kimura, Trujillo was able to take top position. Ferguson dragged Trujillo to the ground and looked to lock in a choke. Trujillo is extremely gassed with just under two-minutes left in the round. Ferguson locked in a deep rear naked choke and finished the fight.
