The UFC bantamweight championship will be up for grabs in the main event at UFC 186 in Montreal, as TJ Dillashaw squares off with the man he beat to claim the title, Renan Barao.
UFC President Dana White announced the news on TSN Saturday evening.
TJ Dillashaw vs Renan Barao rematch set for UFC 186 main event
Barao was expected to get the immediate rematch against Dillashaw, however was forced to pull out of the bout on the day of weigh-ins with an illness.
Dillashaw (11-2) defeated Joe Soto in his first championship defense at UFC 177 with a fifth round knockout. He has earned ‘Performance of the Night’ honors in his last two bouts and is riding a three-fight winning streak.
Barao (33-2, 1NC) didn’t take much of a layoff after the botched weight cut. He returned to the Octagon in December when he defeated Mitch Gagnon via arm-triangle submission in the third round at UFC Fight Night 58.
UFC 186 goes down on April 25 from the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec.
