Following an initial report from KRQE News 13, the Albuquerque police department confirmed that Jones is wanted for questioning, in an official statement.

They are currently searching for the 205-pound king, although he has been unreachable for the past 24 hours.

Several rumors surfaced social media on Sunday afternoon regarding Jones being connected to a hit-and-run incident which occured on Sunday morning. A pregnant woman in her twenties was rushed to the hospital with minor injuries after being hit by another car.

Officer Simon Drobik shot down previous rumors of there being cocaine in Jones’ vehicle, saying those rumors are false.

Jones being pulled from his headlining spot on UFC 187 next month was also another rumor because of the incident, but his title defense against Anthony Johnson has yet to be officially cancelled by the promotion.

The only statement the UFC made, was late Sunday evening and very vague.

“We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department is interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident. We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available.”

UFC 187 takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 23.
