A third fight set for the TUF 22 Finale in December as top-lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov returns to action to take on TUF 13 winner; Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson.
The news was first reported by Brian Martin of DailyNews.com.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) is undefeated in his professional career, including a 6-0 run in the UFC. He has not fought since April of 2014, where he beat current lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision.
Ferguson (19-3) is a veteran on the UFC, amassing a record of 9-1 in the promotion, with the sole loss being a decision to Michael Johnson. Since the loss in 2012 he has won six in a row, this includes 2 performance of the night bonuses as well as a submission of the night. He is coming off a rather one-sided win over former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson.
No word on this bouts placement. It will be on the main card, but it is yet to be seen whether it will be main or co-main event.
The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale is expected to take place in Las Vegas on December 11, the night before UFC 194. Only two other bouts have been confirmed for the card; Joe Lauzon vs. Evan Dunham and Ryan LaFlare vs. Mike Pierce.
