Andy Souwer set to make MMA debut vs. ‘Jienotsu’ Nagashima for Rizin on NYE

|

After years of anticipation, Andy Souwer is finally set to make his MMA debut. He will take on Yuichiro ‘Jienotsu’ Nagashima in Japan.

The bout was reported on liverkick.com late Monday.

Souwer (0-0) will be making his MMA debut after amassing a record of 153-15-1 in kickboxing. He is a 4x S-cup World Champion in shoot boxing, as well as a 2x K-1 World MAX champion. He has held multiple kickboxing world titles, including the K-1 World MAX titles, It’s Showtime! titles and W.K.A. title.

Nagashima (4-2) has not fought in MMA since 2006. Since then he has taken up kickboxing, where he compiled a record of 18-8, becoming a K-1 MAX star much like Souwer. Nagashima isn’t a stranger to New Years Eve spectacles though. In 2010 and 2011 respectively, he had mixed rule matches with Katsunori Kikuno and Shinya Aoki.

This joins Shinya Aoki vs. Kazushi Sakuraba as the only confirmed bouts that will take place under the Rizin FF banner in December.
