In his first title defense, Curtis Harriott will face a foe that he has taken on in the past — Chris Anderson. The welterweight title bout will take place in the main event at Battlefield Fight League 42.
Much has changed since the Harriott and Anderson first met in 2012. The two fought in the amateur ranks, with Anderson defeating Harriott via unanimous decision at BFL 14.
Curtis Harriott puts title on the line against Chris Anderson at BFL 42
Harriott (3-0) dethroned champion Ash Mashreghi in the main event at BFL 41. Much like a previous outing of Harriott’s it came as a result of an injury. The West Van MMA product slammed “Smash” to the mat forcing a stoppage to the action in the first round due to an arm injury. Harriott made his pro debut in July of this year after a very successful amateur career. At BFL 37 the former 170-pound amateur champ tapped out Ryan Ballingall in the very first round. He went on to win his next fight, however it came under unfortunate circumstances — his opponent Kajic injured his arm on a takedown by Harriott which forced the referee to call the fight.
Anderson (2-0) moved to the pro division in October of last year and finished his first opponent, Stu Deleurme via TKO in the first round of their BFL 39 bout. “Bukwas” fought on the same BFL 41 event as Harriott in what many expected to be a very tough outing against David Perron, however Anderson showed otherwise. Anderson defeated Perron by unanimous decision in a one-sided showdown.
BFL 42 goes down on March 12 from the River Rock Casino in Richmond, BC. Keep it locked to MMASucka.com for more on the fight card as it arises.
