It looks like Nick Newell will finally get a shot with the UFC. Not so fast, he won’t be on the next PPV card, however, he will get a shot on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
On Tuesday evening, the 32-year-old tweeted that he had met with UFC President Dana White. But that nothing was official yet.
Wasn’t going to say anything about even meeting @danawhite but what I will say is that he was all class. Really hoping him & @AliAbdelaziz00 can get this deal done. I’ve sacrificed so much over the past 17 years to become the fighter I am but the last chapter still isn’t written. https://t.co/XuPlwI3gsp

Newell (14-1), a congenital amputee whose left arm ends just below his elbow, had a brief retirement. This came after beating Tom Marcellino at WSOF 24 in 2015. In March of this year, “Notorious” made the trek back inside the cage to fight at LFA 35 and beat Sonny Luque in the very first round.
The former XFC champ’s lone loss inside the cage came to UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje at WSOF 11 in 2014.
Check out an interview with Newell prior to his WSOF 7 victory over Sabah Fadai below.
