MMASucka got the opportunity to speak with Randy Costa this past weekend at Cage Titans 39 media day. Costa is veteran of two amateur fights with the Cage Titans promotion. He fought as an amateur three times in total, winning all three by stoppage.
Randy Costa talks Professional Debut
On the main card of CTFC 39, he is scheduled to fight Virginia fighter, Stacey Anderson. The Massachusetts fighter speaks about making his pro debut. He then spoke about his training at Lauzon’s MMA, and also his opponent Anderson.
Long Layoff
Costa makes his professional debut after nearly a four-year layoff. Now that he is back and ready to move into the pro ranks, he will look to make an impressive statement on the main card of CTFC 39.
His most recent fight took place on Cage FX 25. There he took on Chris Caterino in a battle for the promotions vacant amateur bantamweight title. It only took Costa 57 seconds to defeat Caterino and claim the promotions amateur bantamweight strap.
Upcoming Opponent
Costa’s opponent Anderson is a one fight veteran for the Cage Titans promotion. He infamously stepped in on short-notice at the last Cage Titans show, Cage Titans 38, when Jeff Perez lost an opponent one day before for the fight. Unfortunately for Anderson, he is winless thus far into his professional MMA career.
Cage Titans 39
The upcoming Cage Titans show takes place from a new venue. While Plymouth Memorial Hall is still the home of the Boston based promotion, Pinz in Kingston, Massachusetts plays host to CTFC 39.
On the card, quite a few fighters make their debuts, amateur and professional. In the main event of the evening, Peter Barrett takes on Connor Barry in a lightweight showdown. Elsewhere on the main card, a highly anticipated matchup between amateur champions goes down. Amateur flyweight champion Kylie O’Hearn battles bantamweight champion, Taylor Thompson for the 135 lb. belt.
