UFC 227 staff picks are in, our last UFC event for the next three weeks.

Later tonight on this August 4th from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, current UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will look to defend his belt in a rematch against former champion of the division Cody Garbrandt. Their first meeting in November of 2017 saw Garbrandt lose the strap after a technical knockout victory for Dillashaw in the second round.

The card’s co-main event features another rematch at 125 pounds, where long-time UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson looks to improve upon his legendary resume with a fight against former title challenger and Olympian Henry Cejudo. Johnson was successful in their April of 2016 meeting, stopping Cejudo in the very first round and earning a “Performance of the Night” bonus.

The WINNER of staff picks will have a chance to receive a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts following completion of the 2018 calendar year! The 2017 winner was awarded to Wesley Riddle, compiling a record of 118-74 for main card fights. Staff picks compose of both Bellator and UFC fights taken place on the main card.

I would also like to apologize for no staff picks last weekend (that being the UFC card featuring Alvarez & Poirier on Fox). A conflict popped up on my end where I was out of town and away from the computer. With that being said, check out our MMASucka main card staff picks for UFC 227 below, as well as current records in 2018.

  1. […] UFC 227 is live from Los Angeles, California bringing a night full of rematches. Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw puts his title on the line against the man he took it from, Cody Garbrandt. These former teammates first met at UFC 217 in November after a heated run on The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption. Garbrandt came close to ending the fight in the first round after dropping Dillashaw with seconds to go. As Garbrandt looked for the finish, the horn sounded, saving Dillashaw. In the second round, Dillashaw began to pick things up. He dropped Garbrandt with a head kick and then later ended the fight with a hook and ground and pound. TJ Dillashaw was UFC bantamweight champion once again. […]
