Age seems to not phase the 39-year-old Bobby Voelker (31-13 MMA). “Vicious” Bobby Voelker will be returning for his 45th professional mixed martial arts bout this Saturday, December 8th at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Missouri when he takes on Darius Flowers (6-2-1 MMA) at Shamrock 313.

Speaking with MMASucka, Voelker began describing how he began his career in mixed martial arts. “I was a young pup, way back in the day, some 100 years ago or so. [I was] 17-18 – started boxing and kickboxing and [was introduced] to MMA about 19 years old and started dabbling in that… I did my first fight when I was about 21 and been doing them ever since”.

“I knew I’d be a pro [fighter], I always loved to fight, ever since I was a little kid – I love fighting, I had a lot of strong will and heart. [Also] a hard head!”

Why Shamrock FC after being cut by the UFC?

Bobby Voelker was let go by the UFC after going 0-4 with the promotion. During this stint, he fought some of the best in the sport including former UFC welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler. He eventually found his way to Shamrock FC and hasn’t looked back since.

“It was in my local hometown, you know I got quite a following [here], so you know, did it, it went great and did it a couple more times, went great and kept on doing it.”

Even with his success within Shamrock FC, Voelker still has his eyes set on the bigger promotions in North America such as Bellator and UFC. Claiming, those are always the goal.

“I’m always ready to step up to bellator and ufc as well”

“I’m always ready to step up to Bellator and UFC as well.

I think it’s just my loyalty, you know. I’m a loyal person and when I get in good with somebody I like to stick with them unless something great comes along and we discuss it with them and we all come to a decision.”

Voelker vs Flowers

Bobby Voelker will bring his knowledge and experience in the octagon this Saturday when he takes 24-year-old Darrius Flowers in their main event showdown at Shamrock 313. Taking on a younger fighter, Voelker isn’t too concerned about the age difference in this fight.

“He’s a little juggernaut. The guy is quick, a powerhouse, heavy-handed and that’s what I’m expecting from him, and you know, I expect pressure and I expect him getting after me because he needs to, and he does need”.

“The longer it goes, the better i get. everyone knows that”

“The longer it goes, the better I get. Everyone knows that.

I’m not much of a guy that likes to use his range anyway. I think we’re a couple of bulls just butting heads and we’ll see what happens in the middle”.

Voelker is currently 7 – 1 in Shamrock FC

Bobby Voelker has seen his career take on a new light. Currently, on a two-fight win streak where both fights ended with a finish, Voelker stays calm and collected.

“I focus on what I need to do in my training camp. I don’t pay attention to the momentum or hype or the trash talk. That’s not what I focus on. I focus on my training and being ready for my opponent because that is what makes me mentally prepared and mentally strong and my mind is what brings me my victories”.

“you will not find another fighter out there with the heart and the will i have”
