There is only a single card this weekend for our MMASucka staff picks. Later this evening, October 18, UFC on ESPN 6 will take place from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The main card will begin live on ESPN 2 at 9:00pm ET (6:00pm PT).

The Fights

In the main event slot, top light heavyweight contender Dominick Reyes will take on divisional newcomer (but not promotional) newcomer Chris Weidman. Reyes currently sits undefeated at 11-0 since his professional beginnings in 2014. His UFC start in 2017 saw momentum carry in the right direction with three straight first-round finishes. Reyes would earn back-to-back decisions in his last two outings: a unanimous to Ovince Saint Preux and a tight split over Volkan Oezdemir. His opponent, Weidman, is set for his first fight at 205 pounds. The former UFC middleweight champion is looking to reach the success he once had, having suffered four losses in his last five fights. The lone victory on Weidman’s resume in the last four years came over Kelvin Gastelum in 2017 by submission in the third.

A highly-anticipated co-main event rematch is in store between featherweights Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens. Things did not go to plan in their Mexico City main event bout four weeks ago where a finger to the eye just 15 seconds rendered Stephens unable to continue. With bad blood between the two, look for these two contenders to throw down in a potential “Fight of the Night.” That being only possible without any more eye pokes.

Also on the main card includes the return of fan-favorite Joe Lauzon and a clash of dangerous middleweights (fighting at a catchweight of 188.5 pounds) between Deron Winn and Darren Stewart. See all six UFC on ESPN 6 main card fights counted further below.

Staff Picks

Throughout the year, staff picks will be composed of four different MMA promotions: UFCBellatorONE, and RIZIN. Main cards will make up both UFC and Bellator picks, while the biggest fights to make up ONE and RIZIN events will be used. The WINNER of staff picks will have a choice between receiving a championship belt from ProAmBelts or a championship chain from Championship Chains. The 2018 winner was awarded to Michael DeSantis, compiling a record of 202-101.
