Mike Tyson and Vitor Belfort shared some time following AEW Double or Nothing on May 23rd, but the fun in Jacksonville continued onto AEW Dynamite this week.
When Tyson made his way to the wrestling ring, he was flanked by several men, including former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, recently retired UFC champion Henry Cejudo, and the aforementioned current ONE Championship athlete Belfort.
Jericho, flanked by his stable known as The Inner Circle, which includes former All-American wrestler Jake Hager, wanted an apology from “Iron” Mike for knocking him out in 2010 on an episode of WWE Raw.
As happens in professional wrestling, the situation quickly escalated into bedlam.
Tyson ripped off his shirt and mean mugged Jericho before giving him a shove. Jericho responded in kind, and from there, the two factions got into a brief scuffle.
Eventually, they were separated, with Belfort pulling Tyson to the backstage area.
Was this the battle Tyson had been training for in his recent social media videos? Is he ready to dive into a professional wrestling battle against Jericho and his cohorts? Maybe. The altercation was definitely only the beginning, and only time will tell how far this will go.
The long lineage of martial arts crossover into professional wrestling continues.
The collection of World Champions seem to be enjoying this time in the pro wrestling realm. One thing is for sure, The Inner Circle does not want to meet that collection of mixed martial arts legends outside of the squared circle.
