A marquee match-up has been set for Submission Underground 16 (SUG 16). Longtime SUG competitor Micah Brakefield will make the trek down the I-5 to take on UFC veteran Jake Ellenberger. You can check out SUG 15 results, right here.

MMASucka.com learned of the match on Monday afternoon.

Michah Brakefield will face Jake Ellenberger at SUG 16.

Micah Brakefield is a veteran in the SUG cage. This will be his sixth time entering to compete in front of Chael Sonnen. “Mitey’s” most recent appearance, he was in a controversial overtime loss to Austin Vanderford. Prior to that loss, he dropped consecutive grappling contests against standouts Gabriel Checco and Kevin Casey. He has the experience and ability to be a handful against anyone he competes against.

Ellenberger competed at SUG 11 and SUG 12. He lost via Americana to Ben Egli at SUG 11 and lost via reverse triangle to Gabriel Checco at SUG 12. The standout wrestler will look to get back on track at SUG 16. Since he left the UFC Jake has become pretty active in grappling contests. He made his debut with SUG at Submission Underground 8 where de defeated UFC standout Diego Sanchez. Jake is ultra-competitive and has been hard at work in the gym to improve his abilities. The contest on July 12th will mark his fourth grappling match in thirteen months inside the SUG cage.

Mason Fowler won the $10k tournament at SUG 15 and will be next in line for Craig Jones. On Sunday Jessica Eye was defeated by Amanda Loewen and she will welcome Gillian Robertson to the SUG cage at SUG 16 as well. Submission Underground 16 goes down on July 12 from Portland, Oregon.
