After vacating his light heavyweight championship earlier this month, Jon Jones eventual move to heavyweight is imminent. UFC President Dana White has now confirmed that if Jones does make that transition he could be granted an immediate title shot.

Following Tuesday evening’s Dana White’s Contender Series, White told media that Jones has easily done enough to fight the champion at heavyweight right away.

“Of course. I mean realistically, Jon Jones is undefeated. He’s never been beat. [Steve] Mazzagatti is a guy who’s been out of this game for years, I don’t want to keep beating this guy up, but you know. You know. Jon Jones is undefeated,” stated White.

The fight that White was referring to was against Matt Hamill in 2009. Mazzagatti was the official in that bout and declared it a loss for Jones, in just his fourth Octagon appearance, due to an illegal downward elbow.

Following that blemish on his record, “Bones” has gone on to win 17-times, with one no-contest to Daniel Cormier due to testing positive for the illegal substance turinabol.

Whether Jones will actually move up a weight class is still anyone’s guess. White even stated that he is also unsure of what the 33-year-old will do.

“The last time we talked to Jon Jones, Jon Jones said he was going to take some time and do his things that he’s into right now and take some time. When there’s the right fight, he’ll give us a call.

“I have no idea what he’s going to do,” White said.
