Ahead of the much anticipated UFC 253 card this Saturday, bantamweight Sijara Eubanks attended media day and aired her views on Colby Covington‘s recent comments. Unless you’ve been living under a rock since last weekend, you’ll know two things. Firstly, Covington dominated Tyron Woodley in their fight. Secondly, he had some choice, but racist words to fire at Kamaru Usman post-fight.
Chaos’ Comments
In typical Colby Covington fashion, he took it too far (again) this weekend with comments to champion, Kamaru Usman. Off the back of a call from the President, Covington got into a heated argument with Usman and said: ‘Who did you get a call from? You get a call from, frickin’, your little tribe? They give you some smoke signals for you?‘.
The MMA community, it seems, are very much split on whether Covington’s comments were racist or if he was trying to sell a fight. On popular combat sports podcast, ‘Fight Disciples’, host Nick Peet explains the situation perfectly:

Eubank’s Viewpoint
Attending media day ahead of her UFC 253 bout with Brazillian, Ketlen Viera, Sijara Eubanks gave her view on the matter.
Describing it as ‘flat out racist’ and ‘disgusting’, Eubanks clearly didn’t see it as an act. Sarge also stated that she didn’t feel as though it was just promotion, ‘it has to come from some source of how you really feel‘.
She finished by saying ‘To act like a racist to me is to be racist’, clearly stating her view on the matter.
