Friday night, the sport of submission grappling is holding an event aptly called, “Who’s Number One?” It features a monster main event as Gordan Ryan will grapple Matheus Diniz in a clash of legitimate stars in the world of grappling. Gordan Ryan has only lost twice in 30 grappling matches and is widely considered the best of the best. Diniz has won six consecutive matches, including twice beating legend Craig Jones.
Speaking of Craig Jones, he’ll be in the co-main event competing against Roberto Jimenez. Jimenez is a brash 20-year-old grappling phenom with a ton of talent. He’s won six of his last seven matches and enters this clash with Craig Jones looking to cement his name among the greats in submission grappling.
Craig Jones was on a monster roll having won seven consecutive fights and earning the Submission Underground title until recent back-to-back losses to Mason Fowler. He’s among the elite in the sport and will be looking to rebound Friday night.
Gabi Garcia has won four consecutive grappling matches heading into this battle with Elisabeth Clay. Garcia is very formidable and usually has a size and strength. Garcia will have a ten-inch height advantage over Clay, and will undoubtedly be the larger of the two as well.
Elisabeth Clay has only been in the sport of submission grappling for a short amount of time but has a perfect 4-0 record. She’s really talented and will pose a threat to Garcia on the mat if she can handle Garcia’s strength. It could be a really interesting clash.
We will have the results and some recaps of this event Friday night as it happens, so if you’re unable to watch the event, you can follow along here. It should feature some great grappling and compelling matchups.
