Dave Rickels (21-6-2 MMA) signed to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship at the beginning of this year, after becoming a free agent. The 31 year old fighter turned a chapter in his fight career as he “toed the line” with Clifford Wright last Saturday.
Dave Rickels Makes BKFC Debut
“The Caveman” looked energized as he sprung into action in the first round. With just two minutes to work, Rickels quickly walked down his opponent and started landing big shots. He worked well in the clinch and commanded the flow of the round.
His dominance continued into rounds number two and three as he routinely landed a stiff jab and worked heavily in the clinch. Despite fighting at a heavier weight than usual (175 pounds), the Kansas native looked appeared light and as agile as ever.
In round four, Rickels continued to press forward, work angles, and create difficult situations for Wright. After cutting his opponent late in the round, he finished with a ferocious combination of strikes. With just one more round of action, Rickels was in complete control and up on all of the judges’ scorecards.
The final round was the icing on the cake. With one minute left in the fight, Dave Rickels turned on the gas and ripped Wright with a flurry of punches. After the bell sounded, the former Bellator lightweight title challenger raised his hands in victory. Rickels then circled the ring, looked into a camera, and said, “Y’all like that sh*t. Y’all like that sh*t. I hope so.”
Dave Rickels won every single round on all three judges score cards and won the fight via unanimous decision.
This was an exciting moment for Dave Rickels. Perhaps the MMA circuit was becoming stale, and bare knuckle fighting was a breath of fresh air. He looked like he was enjoying himself out there. It would be fun to see him slug it out with KOTC and BKFC vet, Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett.
