“There is a new power couple, Bellator MMA is now on Showtime!” At their press conference today, Bellator MMA announced their partnership with premium television network Showtime. Bellator and Showtime should make for a dynamic duo. For the first time in over eight years, Showtime will air MMA. Showtime is planning for a 1-2 punch of combat sports, with Bellator MMA on Fridays and Showtime Championship Boxing on Saturdays. The first three events will be back to back weeks in April, and then after that it will be two events per month, all on Fridays.

Bellator and Showtime Announcement

The Bellator and Showtime partnership will kick off with the culmination of the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix. On April 2nd, Bellator double champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire will fight Emmanuel Sanchez in the second semifinal, preparing a victor who will battle AJ McKee in the tournament final.

In addition, Bellator have announced a light heavyweight tournament with eight participants: Corey Anderson, Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov, Ryan Bader, Lyoto Machida, Yoel Romero, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, current Bellator Light Heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov and Phil Davis. Two of the fights will be on the 9th of April and two more will be on the 16th of April

Finally, Bellator has announced a bantamweight title fight between current champion Juan Archuleta and Sergio Pettis, for May 7, 2021.
