A fight that is guaranteed to be electric has been set to headline a July 17 UFC event. Former featherweight champion Max Holloway will take on a top contender in Yair Rodriguez.
Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez Announced
The news came on Wednesday when UFC President Dana White announced the fight via ESPN.
Holloway (22-6) got back in the win column after back-to-back losses to current 145-pound kingpin Alexander Volkanovski. At UFC on ABC 1, Holloway had one of the best performances of his career, as he dominated Calvin Kattar from bell to bell on route to a unanimous decision victory.
Rodriguez (13-2, 1NC) has two wins and one no-contest in his last three outings. The 28-year-old was riding an eight-fight winning streak, before being stopped in the second round by Frankie Edgar in 2017. The number three ranked featherweight is 8-1, 1NC in his 10 UFC fights.
Expect more fights to be announced for the July 17 UFC event soon.
