3 To Watch At Battleground III

ONE Championship will complete its third installment of the Battleground series on Friday, August 27, with its final previously recorded event before returning to all live events with ONE: Empower in September.

3 to Watch at ONE: Battleground III

The six-bout slate is stacked with important matches that warrant the fan’s attention.

Bi Nguyen and Jenelyn Olsim compete for a shot at becoming an alternate in the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix, rising contenders stack the card, and a possible title eliminator headlines the action.

Get prepared for the excitement and check out the three matches you absolutely must see from ONE: Battleground III.

Sitthichai vs. Tawanchai

The main event of ONE: Battleground III will take place in the ONE Super Series featherweight Muay Thai division, and it features a dazzling matchup with a possible title shot on the line.

Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong and Tawanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym will put their friendship aside for the main event tilt as they seek featherweight glory.

With a potential meeting with Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy hanging over the bout, expect both men to empty their arsenal to try and earn that shot. However, neither man will be looking ahead as they know the dangers each possess inside the Circle.

This is an extremely high-level Muay Thai affair, and in four-ounce gloves, it is a can’t-miss bout. Pound-for-pound greats going toe-to-toe is a sight to behold, and this is a matchup that will leave fans talking no matter the outcome.

Dae Hwan Kim vs. Xie Wei

When flyweights Dae Hwan Kim and “The Hunter” Xie Wei go to war in Singapore, it will be all action.

The South Korean is seeking a big upset to get back in the win column, but “The Hunter” has his sights set on bigger plans. If he can make it three straight victories on the global stage, Xie will be eyeing those ranked in the official ONE athlete rankings.

Xie Wei has looked strong in his last two outings with TKO wins. As one of the most exciting flyweights in the game, he will reinsert himself back into the thick of the hunt if he can continue his streak. But a loss to Kim would prove costly.

Kim has his back against the wall, which makes him exceptionally dangerous, and a dangerous warrior always makes for an exciting contest.

Tial Thang vs. Song Ming Jong

Song Min “The Running Man” Jong looked strong on the ONE Warrior Series to earn his way onto the main roster but suffered a setback against former ONE World Champion Geje Eustaquio. Now he has a chance for redemption against one of the fastest rising stars in the sport, “The Dragon Leg” Tial Thang.

Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang is a national hero, and his protege is on the verge of becoming one as well. Thang is undefeated in his young mixed martial arts career, but his latest outing showed he has the power to finish at any moment.

Training out of Sanford MMA, the Myanmar star is putting in the work to become a serious factor in the wildly talented bantamweight division. And another big performance on Friday will move him a step closer to the top of the mountain.

With an opponent on the rise like Thang, Jong has a prime opportunity to steal his thunder. This bantamweight contest should be fireworks in the center of the Circle.

ONE: Battleground III airs across all Bleacher Report platforms at 8:30 a.m. EST/5:30 a.m. PST on Friday, August 27.
