Lee, who is a former UFC Interim Lightweight Title challenger was released by UFC after losing four of his last five bouts. His last win took place at UFC 244 in 2019, when he defeated Gregor Gillespie by a knockout, a kick to the head to be more precise. He also holds notable wins over Michael Chiesa and Edson Barboza and unsuccessfully tried to win the interim belt in a matchup against Tony Ferguson. Lee’s most recent losses came against Charles Oliveira and Daniel Rodriguez.
Miami will be hosting Eagle FC 44 on January 28th, which will be the promotion’s debut in U.S. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight matchup between Tyrone Spong and longtime MMA veteran, Sergei Kharitonov. Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will come out of retirement to take part in this event, and former UFC Bantamweight champion Renan Barao will make his return to take on fellow UFC alumni, Horacio Gutierrez.
